Workshop on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m
Café Elysée in the digitalCHURCH, Jülicher Straße 72a, Aachen
Young people from Germany and abroad who are interested in music, culture and politics are invited to a discussion: Do artists only make art? Or can they also convey a message? Are they even called upon to do so? And how does that work then?
The event is particularly attractive thanks to the presence of six young musicians from the Western Balkans Youth Orchestra (WBYO), who are currently staying in Aachen as guests of the Rotary-Orchester Deutschland on the occasion of its concert on June 11, 2023 and the associated rehearsal phase. At WBYO, music and message are closely connected.
As participants, we address young people who are interested in culture and politics, from the age group of about 17 - 27 years: e.g. participants of the Aachen Music School, students of the Cologne University of Music, Aachen department, participants in the Collegium Musicum, high school students, members of Rotaract and the Rotary Inbounds in the Aachen region. The aim is for 25-35 persons to participate.
The evening will be moderated by Rick Fulker, freelance music journalist and former music editor at Deutsche Welle in Bonn. Musicians from Aachen and from the Western Balkan countries will make impulse contributions. Among them:
The event will be held mainly in English, with translation if necessary. Participation is free of charge. Considering the limited space available, participation will be confirmed or rejected in good time.
